All sorting station take boats that are shorter than 4,5 m. Longer boats are taken only by the Korvenmäki and the Topinoja waste treatment centres.

The waste belongs to the following waste types:

Coarse waste Large burnable waste

Sorting guidelines:

Sort burnable waste larger than 60 x 60 cm into large burnable waste.

What happens to the waste:

Coarse waste is processed mechanically. Wastes that can be used either as material or energy are sorted and delivered to utilisation. Wastes that are unsuitable for recycling, non-burnable or that interfere with the burning process are disposed at the landfill.

Metals, for instance, are separated from waste to be utilised, after which this material is crushed into piece size suitable for burning.
